The online dating concept is now commonplace among singles of all age groups and advertising we see for dating sites is about as common as daily news bulletins. With online dating becoming the “convenient” match making tool of the day, time poor singles are treating internet dating with a grain of salt with many online daters now having a take it or leave it attitude.

Many are treating the cyberspace land of love for granted knowing it will always be there as a back up. Although being familiar, such sites seem to be influencing us – In 2008 there were more than 135,000 marriages in the U.S alone that are directly attributed to online dating. With common techniques of communicating ( Face book, Twitter, MySpace, etc.) shifting away from real life interaction and more towards technology most days, it’s not unexpected that singles across the land are choosing to pay a little cash for a less nerve-racking, more prompt sort of dating.

Dating sites are seen by many of the single 30+ age bracket as some what of a security blanket. This age group traditionally would be married, have a mortgage and perhaps children. For 30+ singles ,dating sites provide a constant stream of options with the hope of the law of averages coming into play and sooner or later finding their soul mate. And it makes sense, the services provided are not just handy – they’re booming.

With University students falling into the prime age group online dating sites target, does this particular group need to go online to find a partner? With regular parties, sporting events, class interaction etc what does online dating offer that this lifestyle doesn’t? Answer – Commitment.

Surprisingly, many university students in their early 20s are concerned with finding their soul mate and the university lifestyle in general doesn’t always accommodate for such relationships.

Dating sites are choc full of men and women of all ages in need of a committed relationship. Irrespective of any risks, internet dating has become an accepted means to form a relationship. Prior to students joining up to a dating site, they should first appreciate the advantages of being on a university campus and use this precious period of their lives to grow as an individual and to establish their independence in the world.
