Shall We Dance?

Shall We Dance?I wish I could dance. I can’t, of course, but that doesn’t stop me wishing. I don’t know if you’re a Frank Zappa fan, but if you ever heard the song “Dancin’ Fool,” you’ve had a musical description of what I would look like if I ever went near a dance floor. I think the song goes, “one of my legs’ shorter than the other and both of my feets too long.” Nope, I’ve really got no coordination or rhythm at all my friends. It’s too bad, too, because the idea of working up a sweat on the dance floor with a beautiful lady sounds just as much fun as fitness dating.

What’s that movie with Al Pacino? Scent Of A Woman? I saw it again a little while ago. There’s a scene where the blind, old and bitter Pacino sweeps a complete (gorgeous) stranger off her feet because he can still cut a rug. I would do anything to be that suave. I wish I had that kind of dating style.

Now, few of us can walk through the world looking as cool as we would if we had a script written perfectly for us and a host of choreographers to train us. Still, even without all the aids, I think being a good dancer would definitely make my life more exciting.

I imagine dancing is a great ice-breaker too. There is a lot of physical contact that’ll help a new couple get over that weird awkwardness. I even think that taking some dancing classes would probably be a cool date idea. Sure, you might look a little goofy, but that’ll just keep everything light and funny.

I’m really trying to talk myself into this idea. Maybe I should just get over my complete lack of rhythm and grace and learn to dance. What’s the worst that could happen? You know, beside breaking limbs and damaging innocent bystanders. I think I’m still a bit too chicken, but that shouldn’t keep anyone else from putting salsa dancing or a night out at a swing club right up at the top of their list of ideas for a fun date. If you’ve done it, drop me a line below and let me know how it went. I may only be a few encouraging comments away from a life lived on a dance floor.

Interesting Stories About Muslim BeautyThe great thing about living in a big city is that you have the opportunity to meet people from many different cultures. The strange thing about writing dating blogs is that you start seeing stories everywhere, even when you’re casually talking to your friends. One of my good friends recently explained to me the opportunities created by Muslim dating sites and their ability to connect me and others with Muslim beauty.

Beyond the obvious objective of catching a date with online personals, I don’t think I understood the full impact that internet dating agencies have had on people’s lives until I was talking with my friend the other day.

My friend and I, along with a group of people we knew from our university days, had all gone to dinner together. We’ve all led pretty varied lives since we were in class together and so it had been a long time since some of us had seen each other. Naturally, after all the talk about jobs and careers had been exhausted, we started taking about romance.

A couple of the people we got together with now had husbands and wives. Almost everyone else had been in and out of relationships. Clearly there was a lot to talk about. My friend remained quite through most of the conversation, but when we noticed he was being left out we asked him what was happening with his love life.

Our friend smiled and started to tell us about this ‘Muslim beauty’ he’d been dating for almost a year. It occurred to the group that even when we were in school together he’d never talked much about his love life, so we asked him why that had been. He told us that it was only just before he’d met the woman he was now dating that he had really started to be comfortable around the topic.

He told us that, as a Muslim, especially with his particular family, he had a lot of difficulty meeting people he liked. He had to live up to many expectations out of respect for his family and culture and it was a long time before he’d found a way to meet people and date in a comfortable way. He said that one of the best things that had ever happened to him was discovering online Muslim personals that had allowed him to connect with different people that had similar experiences.

It’s amazing to think what interesting conversations can come out of run-of-the-mill questions like “how’s your love life?” This particular question led me to realize what a great thing online dating has been for some people, be they seeking a Muslim beauty or any race, for that matter. It’s times like these that make me glad we rate dating sites to make the job of finding a good site that much easier.
