A Fit Bride For A Fit Friend
Well, I never thought it would happen, but this past weekend my best friend got married. He’s always been a bit of a loner. Not really by choice, but he’s the kind of guy that will take off for a weekend to go hiking in the mountains, or spend a morning running. There are few people that can keep up to his pace. At some point, I’m sure he must have had enough of this because he put his hat in the ring on one of the websites we took a look at here called Fitness Singles. Meeting a like-minded gal was a huge coup for my friend, Dan. His gal made the most beautiful, fit bride and the ceremony was wonderful. I was just glad they didn’t make us go for a run after it was all over.
We all let up a cheer as they couple had their first kiss as newlyweds. Both of them wore traditional wedding attire, the only difference being that they were both wearing running shoes. I had to laugh out loud when I noticed, but it seemed appropriate as they are both the kind of people that could take off for a run at a moment’s notice. I know that when they first started dating, they went running more than they went for coffee or dinner. They’d spend time at the gym in order to get to know each other. They’d have long talks with each other about their lives and their goals as they hiked through the mountains. It must have been wonderful for each of them to find a person that they could spend time with, a person who enjoyed the same things the other did. It’s not easy for anyone, but if you’re the kind of person who just can’t stop, it’s even more difficult to find fit singles these days.
I caught up with Dan after the wedding, as we all gathered to celebrate the newly married couple. I’d never seen him smile so much as I did that day. His grin went from ear to ear and it looked as though it would last his lifetime. He told me that he never believed that he would find someone that would marry him and I jokingly told him the same. It was good to laugh and to celebrate love and life. I shook Dan’s hand as I was leaving, his grip firm in mine and looked him in the eye. I could see that he was truly happy.
